Brussels Airlines joins the BAGTAG platform

Brussels Airlines launches electronic bag tags, allowing its passengers to check in and tag their bags using their smartphones. This was facilitated by connecting to the BAGTAG platform.

The BAGTAG Passenger Solution is set to revolutionise the check-in process for Icelandair’s valued travellers. By integrating electronic bag tags, passengers can now experience a seamless and efficient baggage check-in process from the comfort of their home, hotel, or anywhere they like, eliminating the need for traditional paper tags.

BAGTAG app
The BAGTAG application allows passengers to upload their flight information and generate an electronic tag that can be attached to their luggage, checking in from anywhere they like. The electronic tag can then be scanned at the airport, eliminating the need for traditional paper luggage tags.

This means that passengers can skip queues at check-in and head straight to the bag drop area, thus saving time, reducing paper usage and increasing comfort.

“We are committed to providing our passengers with the best possible travel experience. By introducing electronic bag tags, we are making the check-in process faster and more convenient.”

Multi-device solution
Having connected to the BAGTAG platform, Brussels Airlines’ passengers can nowuse their electronic bag tags through the BAGTAG app. They can check-in their baggage digitally with the first and second generation BAGTAGs, BagID tag and/or the RIMOWA eTag.

Innovation milestone
This new launch of electronic bag tags is a significant improvement for Brussels Airlines’ passengers. It showcases the airline’s dedication to using technology to enhance the customer experience.

Brussels Airport test case
Extensive testing was performed at Brussels Airport where various electronic batags were put through the baggage handling system. Once again, the solution proved to be fully backwards compatible showing no issues going through the existing systems.

“I am thrilled to see Brussels Airlines introducing electronic bag tags through our platform. This is a great new airline partner and we can’t wait to see their passengers using their tags on Brussels flights.”

Jasper Quak – Managing Director BAGTAG
